Fly High at the Plano Balloon Festival – Sep. 23 – 25, 2016

   This year mark’s 37 years of Ballooning in Plano, Texas. Join in the Celebration at the InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival weekend, a spectacular three-day event beginning at 4:00pm Friday, September 23rd at Oak Point Park, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75074.
The weekend event offers something for everyone; entertainment on the FOX 4 community stage and KLUV main stage, Saturday evening spectacular fireworks show, special kids activities, sky divers, an enormous variety of food to tempt your taste buds, merchandise and handmade products showcased, and of course the incredible hot air balloons. The balloons will launch Friday at 6:00pm, Saturday at 7:00am and 6:00pm, and Sunday at 7:00am and 6:00pm (weather permitting).
The major draw for this Balloon Festival will be the 45 magnificent, colorful, hot air balloons. Fun for all ages, are the Special Shapes that attend the festival. The featured Special Shapes that will be participating this year include: Joelly the Baby Bee, Betty Jean the Butterfly, Flying Purple People Eater, Pepe, Baby Dino, Bimbo Bear, High Diddle Diddle, Peg Leg Pete the Pirate Parrot, and the always popular High Jack.
For the adventurous, the RE/MAX parachute team will perform Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons at 5:30pm by jumping from their plane over the park and landing right in the middle of the launch field.
Saturday evening catch the BOOM, BANG, and SIGHT of the spectacular Fireworks presented by Bimbo. The Festival fireworks show is custom designed and orchestrated by Pyrotex providing an amazing array of colors in the night sky.
Enjoy the fun and interactive inflatable rides this year. Race through the obstacle courses, zip down the huge slides, ride the pirate ship or the berry-go-round. Be sure to check out the “Toddler Zone.” Designed with young toddlers in mind, they can experience the fun of inflatables that are just their size. Children can enjoy the creative make and take art activities in our FREE Kids Korner as they make their way through the different craft stations. Get your Face Painted and explore music at the Plano Symphony Orchestra Instrument Area.
Friday and Saturday evenings, some of the balloons will provide a breathtaking sight as they inflate and glow after it gets dark. The glows are a must see!
